Novo Nordisk’s innovative sustainability reporting and its efforts to engage in partnerships have both won praise and recognition over the years. Below are some of the awards and recognitions received.

In 2004, Novo Nordisk was given the award for the best European Sustainability Report 2003 by the national associations of state-chartered accountants in 15 countries. It is the sixth time that Novo Nordisk takes home the award.

Honours and awards received during 2003 - Previously received honours and awards

In October 2003 we won the award for best Sustainability Report for 2003. The award was given by FSR (The Danish Association of Chartered Accountants) and the Danish financial newspaper Børsen for our Sustainability Report 2002.

Novo Nordisk Pharma Ltd. (UK) received renewed ‘Investor in People’ award.

Novo Nordisk Japan received Certificate of appreciation from Japan Safe Driving Centor to promote safe driving in NNPL.

Novo Nordisk Farmaceutici S.P.A. (Italy), received UNICEF flag from UNICEF ITALIA President, Dott. Giovanni Micali - For the sponsorship of a project related to children.

Novo Nordisk Canada Inc. received award from Canadian Diabetes Association for making a difference in diabetes in Canada.

Novo Nordisk (China) Pharmaceuticals company ltd. was identified as best employer in China 2002, organised by Hewitt, handed out early 2003.

NN Farmacuetica do Brazil Ltda. (Brazil) was granted by GRUPEMEF (Pharmaceutical Marketing Executives Group) with The Lupa de Ouro Award - Institutional Category - due to NOVOCARE Program.

Novo Nordisk Argentina Pharma S.A. (Argentina) received the award: "Best Place to Work for in Argentina", 2003. NN Argentina has been chosen the number one company to work in Argentina.  Sponsor: US-based research and management consulting firm, Great Place to Work Institute, Inc.,  associated with a local firm "Managers Argentina"  and "Fortune" and "Apertura" magazines.

Novo Nordisk Yugoslavia (ROSEE) received Diploma of the Pharmaceutical Chamber of Serbia for the organisation of pharmacist’s education in Vojvodina, 26 December 2003.

Our report 'Dealing with Dilemmas' (TBL 2001) won the award as the best Danish sustainability report published in 2002. The award was given by the Danish Association of Chartered Accountants and the Danish financial daily, Børsen.

In April 2002, Lise Kingo, executive vice president of Novo Nordisk, was honoured at the Edinburgh International Science Festival, where she received the Edinburgh Medal for pioneering a socially and environmentally responsible approach to business.

In the same month (April 2002), we were celebrated as winner of the European Association of Chartered Accountants' “Best Sustainability Report in Europe” for the joint Novo Group report for 2000, “Values in a Global Context”. 

In October 2001, we were awarded for the best Danish sustainability report published in 2001 by the the Danish Association of Chartered Accountants and the Danish financial daily, Børsen. 

Earlier in 2001, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants awarded us for having published the best integrated environmental and social report in Europe for the report 'Putting Values into Action 1999'. 

In 2000, the same report was awarded as the best sustainability report published in year 2000 by the Danish financial newspaper Børsen and the Danish Association of Chartered Accountants. 

The 1998 social report won honours from the European Accountants' Association. 

The 1996, 1997 and 1998 environmental reports won the award for Best Environmental Report from the European Accountants' Association. 

The 1995, 1996 and 1997 environmental reports won the Green Accounting Award in Denmark from Børsen and the Danish Association of State-authorised Public Accountants. 

In addition, the 1995 environmental report won the Corporate Conscience Award for Environmental Stewardship from the Council On Economic Priorities (USA).
